If you’re a fan of Ford and Lincoln, as well as low insurance rates, you’re in luck. Ford Motor Company is partnering with Nationwide to provide discounted insurance for owners of certain connected 2020 Ford and Lincoln models.

Availability of the new insurance offering

At the time of writing, the new insurance purchasing experience is available in 39 states. The following Ford models are available with the new insurance provision: 2020 Ford Fusion, Edge, EcoSport, Escape, Explorer, Mustang, Ranger, Super Duty, Transit, and Transit Connect. When the 2021 Ford F-150 arrives, this model will also offer this option for consumers. The 2020 Lincoln models available with the provision include the Lincoln Nautilus, MKZ, Corsair, Aviator, and Navigator.

How to access it

To enroll in the usage-based insurance coverage, dubbed SmartRide®, simply log on to the FordPass or Lincoln Way app. Next, click on the insurance tile — Ford Insure or Lincoln Motor Company Insure, depending on your vehicle — and fill in some information. Bonus: the form prepopulates with your vehicle’s key info, to save you some time during the process.

After purchasing the policy, the vehicle’s embedded modem will track and share driving information like distance driven, vehicle idle time, and night driving. It will also monitor your braking and acceleration habits. If you have a safe driving record, you’ll be eligible for up to a 40-percent discount on the policy when the time comes to renew it.

Call us at Gateway Ford Lincoln to find out more about how you can enroll with SmartRide®. Or stop by to test-drive any of our 2020 models that are compatible with this service.
